Hi there!

Debra– Debra Secunda of “Sky in the Pie Productions” here –

I discovered the Raw Living Food Lifestyle while conducting interviews at New York’s “NewLife EXPO” in 1998. (Back then I was Saphrina, host of “The Galactic Center TV” show.)

So there I was – between the magnetic mattresses, crystal singing bowls, & hyperbaric oxygen chambers – interviewing Viktoras Kulvinskas, the pioneer & researcher with Dr. Ann Wigmore back in the 60’s: The BIG DADDY of today’s Raw Food movement!

He said, “You know, I can tell just by looking at someone if they eat microwaved food.”

Well I was so busted, I looked right in the camera with an “Uh-oh!” (ME at a loss for words???) What was this all about?

Then I proceeded, to sample the full-on Raw buffet he prepared as a lunch for his workshop. YUM-O! My every cell said, “YES! We want more of this crazy stuff & so did my taste buds.
I freely indulged & needed to learn more.

This interlude encouraged me to delve into widespread research & a journey that continues every day. I was a Science major before coming to the Big City to model & do commercials during the 80’s but all I knew was the “Head o’ Lettuce Diet” back then. Whoever heard of seed “yogurt”, veggiekraut, & almond pate?

I owe the basics of “Raw Living Foods” training to the adorable “Wiggies”: Directors Lalita & Leola at the “Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute” in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

The 2-week training they gave me in March of 2000 planted all the seeds I needed to manage maximum health all by myself on a daily basis. I truly recommend their extensive classes as your initial Raw “Boot Camp” for simple Lifestyle changes. And they’re right on a soothing Caribbean beach.

Then I tried convincing my partner at “Sky in the Pie”, Robert Shaman, to help me spread the word through the media. He’s like “Oh great. Here we go again with her altruistic Labors of Love.” But then he scarfed up my recipes & unassumingly chugged down all my Energy Soup “experiments” so we were off & running:
2 hour DVD “Gabriel Cousens, MD – Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine”;
2 hour DVD “Green Recipes for Health & Weight Loss”;

2 & 1/2 hour DVD “Dr. Ann Wigmore’s Living Foods Lifestyle”;
2 & 1/2 hour DVD “Spiritual Nutrition for Yoga & Liberation” which includes “Spiritual Fasting” for Gabriel Cousens;

2 hour DVD “Raw Survival with Viktoras Kulvinskas”
(All available here or at amazon.com or rawfoodworld.com)

Check out my 10 Minute-Meal in a Blender, “Green Sunshine”

Basic Smoothie Recipe: A COMPLETE Meal!

Everything can be washed/chopped/stored ahead of time: Buy organic!
Blend all “hard” vegetable ingredients first (with water halfway up the combination):

1-2 ribs celery & handful of parsley in bottom of blender
1 small carrot
1/2 golden beet (also include stems)
1-2 radishes or chunk of daikon
1/2 -1 whole lemon (peeled if not organic)
1/2 palmful: pea, lentil, garbanzo or mung bean, etc. sprouts
1/2 zucchini (or cucumber/bok choy stalks, etc.)
1 red pepper &/or 1-2 tomatoes
Seaweeds: dulse or kelp (I also add raw jalapeno & garlic – YUM-O!)
Later on adjust with celtic sea salt & cayenne pepper to taste

Next add & blend 1 avocado with around 5 Cups leafy GREENS: Combine alfalfa or broccoli sprouts, spinach, beet greens, bok choy greens, radish tops, swiss chard (whatever you have on hand). (You may find collard, watercress, kale, etc. a bit too bitter at first): Shove down side of blender & do NOT over-blend the greens.

TASTE & experiment in a small bowl: If you like Mexican food, add fresh cilantro; Try ginger & Nama Shoyu or Braggs aminos for Chinese. Italian: Fresh basil, oregano & add an extra tomato with the greens. ENJOY! Garnish with seed yogurt, a flax cracker & LOVE.

A Quickie-Fix Jiffy blend:
Just make sure you have 1 lemon; 1 tomato; 1 zucchini or cucumber; avocado; & a package of spinach. Season with celtic & cayenne for “YUM-O on the GO”!

KISSES!!! & Blessings,
Debra
