The following recipe is a delicious embellishment of Dr. Ann Wigmore\u2019s \u201cEnergy Soup\u201d, which has been used as a nutrient-rich, detoxifying agent since the 60\u2019s. This easily digested \u201csalad-in-a-blender\u201d is filled with fiber, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, phyto-chemicals, essential fatty acids and protein. The leafy greens provide your cells with a blast of chlorophyll, oxygen, and are a great source of bio-available calcium.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAll you need is a blender with \u201cice-crush\u201d capacity to enjoy a large batch as a satisfying day-long \u201cfast\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Basic Low-glycemic Smoothie Recipe: A COMPLETE Meal in a blender:<\/p>\n<p>Everything can be washed\/ chopped\/ stored ahead of time: Buy organic!<\/p>\n<p>From \u201cGreen Recipes for Health &amp; Weight Loss\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blend all \u201chard\u201d vegetable ingredients first (with filtered water halfway up the combination):<\/p>\n<p>1 rib celery, chopped, &amp; handful of parsley in bottom of blender<br \/>\n1 small carrot<br \/>\n1\/2 golden beet (also include stems)<br \/>\n1-2 radishes or chunk of daikon<br \/>\n1 whole lemon (peeled if not organic), quartered &amp; seeded<br \/>\n1\/2 palmful: pea, lentil, chick pea or mung bean sprouts<br \/>\n1\/2 small zucchini or cucumber<br \/>\n1\/2 \u2013 1 avocado<br \/>\n1 red bell pepper &amp;\/or 1-2 tomatoes<\/p>\n<p>Seaweeds: 1-2 T. dulse or kelp (for trace minerals)<\/p>\n<p>1-2 T. flax or chia seeds<\/p>\n<p>Optional: a few slices of raw jalapeno &amp; fresh garlic<\/p>\n<p>Blend well, adding more water if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>* Next add a mixture of around 4-5 Cups leafy GREENS: Alfalfa or broccoli sprouts, spinach, beet greens, bok choy greens, watercress, radish tops, kale, arugula, Swiss chard \u2013 Whatever you have on hand. (You may find collard or dandelion a bit bitter, so add extra carrot): Shove one handful at a time down one side of the blender &amp; do not over-blend the greens.<\/p>\n<p>Celtic Sea Salt &amp; Cayenne pepper to taste.<\/p>\n<p>ENJOY! Garnish with seed yogurt &amp; LOVE<\/p>\n<p>Experiment in a small bowl: If you like Mexican food, add fresh cilantro; Try ginger &amp; Nama Shoyu or \u201cBraggs Liquid Aminos\u201d for Chinese.<br \/>\nItalian: Add 1\/8th C. sundried tomatoes &amp; 1 tsp. dried oregano to the \u201chard\u201d ingredients.
